1. Eligibility Requirements

Eligible Teams

Teams may participate if they are:

  • Sponsored by Catholic parishes
  • Competing in Catholic‑sponsored leagues
  • Competing in approved public‑school leagues that comply with the Policies and Regulations for Athletics of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee (most recent edition)

Team Composition

  • Teams playing at the same level may not be combined into a single roster.
  • Parish teams may include only students enrolled in the parish school or its religious education programs.
  • All players must be regular team members of their parish or school program as of the league‑defined eligibility date and must comply with their league’s rules.
  • Players must be in good academic standing in their school or religious education program.
  • All players must be identified in advance, and their eligibility must be validated by the Principal and/or Pastor through signatures on the official Entry Application/Roster.

2. Conduct & Expectations

Sportsmanship

All players, coaches, staff, and supporters are expected to conduct themselves with exemplary sportsmanship.
Participation in the Padre Serra Basketball Invitational is a conditional privilege and may be revoked at any time at the sole discretion of the Tournament Committee.

Coaching Regulations

  • Only the Head Coach may stand during play, and only within the designated coaching box.
  • If the coach or bench receives a technical foul, the Head Coach must remain seated for the remainder of the game (except during timeouts).
  • A second technical foul assessed to the coach or bench results in the Head Coach being removed from the gym.

3. Game Play Rules

  • If a team leads by 15 points, no backcourt pressure is allowed.
  • If a team leads by 20 points in the 4th quarter, the game clock will run continuously (except during timeouts).
  • Teams must bring their own basketballs for warm‑ups.

4. Scheduling & Tournament Operations

Tournament Conflicts

Teams involved in other tournaments during the Padre Serra Invitational window must notify the Tournament Committee in advance.

Team Scheduling

A scheduling meeting is held prior to the tournament.

  • Representatives from each participating team are invited.
  • Teams are seeded based on their record, and the tournament schedule is created at this meeting.
  • Each team may designate one Head Coach, two Assistant Coaches, and one Scorekeeper.

5. Uniform Requirements

  • T-shirts worn by players must be the same color as the jersey.
  • Exception: If two teams have the same jersey color and the Tournament requires one team to switch jerseys, that team may wear different‑colored T‑shirts under the alternate jerseys.
